Looking for upside down pineapples? This is the right place! 😉 Here’s your chance to crochet the cutest little pineapples that you can choose to hang over your rearview mirror, wear as earrings to a fun get together, or even use as a keychain! Grab your supplies and let’s crochet a pineapple!

crocheted upside-down pineapples

Upside Down Pineapples Crochet Pattern

These little pineapples are the most adorable things! In order to crochet pineapples you need two shades of yellow/brown and a nice green for the leaves. For this pattern I wanted them to be pretty small (in case you’re wearing them as earrings etc) so I used embroidery floss.

Note that you could follow this same pattern using a blanket yarn or a BIG blanket yarn and it would make a super cute pineapple throw pillow!

Crochet pineapple patterns can be hard to find, so I hope this one is just what you’re looking for.

Use the free pattern below or grab the printable PDF file in my Etsy shop. Thank you!

Materials:

Embroidery Floss (2 skeins per color per pineapple)

Color A (lighter yellow)
Color B (darker yellow)
Color B (green)

Crochet hook in size 2.5mm

Polyfil or yarn scraps for stuffing

Gauge: unimportant

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

Use the Alpine Stitch to create the textured effect. You can follow a good video tutorial for the alpine stitch here.

The ch/s at the beginning of each round do NOT count as a stitch.

Magic Circle alternative = ch-4, sl st to first ch made to form a circle.

Pattern:

Using Color A (lighter yellow)…

Round 1: Magic Circle, ch-1, 20dc in circle. Join to top of first st. (20)

Round 2: Ch-1, turn, sc in each st around. Join to top of first st. (20)

Change to Color B (darker yellow)…

Round 3: Ch-2, turn, * dc in next, Fpdc around next st * repeat between * * around. Join to top of first st. (20) Change to Color A (lighter yellow)… Row 4: repeat round 2 (20)

Change to Color B (darker yellow)…

Round 5: repeat round 3 (20)

Rounds 6 through 13: alternate rounds 2 & 3, changing colors each round. Weave in beginning tails and add stuffing.

Change to Color A (lighter yellow)…

Round 14: Ch-1, turn, sc2tog around. Join to top of first st. (10)

Change to Color B (darker yellow)…

Round 15: Ch-2, turn, Fpdc2tog around round 14’s sts. Join to top of first st. (10)

Add any additional stuffing now.

Change to Color C (green for leaves)…

Leaf pattern:

Ch-7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next, dc in next, tr in next. Sl st to next post on pineapple. Repeat leaf pattern for a minimum of 10 leaves.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

If making two for hanging over the rear view mirror or upside down in general, use Color A to make a chain that is about 8” long. Sew each end to one pineapple bottom. Finished!
