Blow Me Beanie: Free Kink Crochet Pattern

Whether you’re looking for a gag gift for a friend or coworker, or the perfect kink gift for your partner, the Blow Me Beanie is the perfect thing to add just enough spice in the bedroom. Use this free crochet pattern and not much yarn to make one of your own.

Blow Me Beanie

The Blow Me beanie is like a blindfold… but not. Deliberately covering the eyes is a great way to heighten your other senses and you sure can’t see much through the fabric and the anticipation of what comes next is the best part! If you and your partner enjoy some harmless spice and you also crochet, give this one a try.

The Blow Me Beanie comes in one size: adult. Because of course it does. That being said, the main body portion is about 23″ circumference and the bottom band when stretched is right at 23″ also.

The band is meant to fit snug around the neck and stretch to fit over the head. For this beanie I used Shine Sport, but any size 2 yarn will work nicely.

If you need to make it larger, I suggest using a bigger yarn and/or a bigger crochet hook rather than changing the pattern.

Use the free pattern below or grab the printable PDF file in my Etsy shop. Thank you!

Materials:

Size 2/sport weight yarn (Shine Sport used)
-approx. 320 yards

Crochet hook in size G/4mm

Crochet hook in size I/5.5mm

Gauge: 16 sts in 4” width using Linked Double Crochet

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

The ch-2 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

Magic circle alternative: ch-4, join to first st made.

Ldc = Linked Double Crochet

Pattern:

Using the smaller, 4mm hook…

Round 1: Magic Circle, ch-1, 10Ldc in circle. Do not join, work in a spiral throughout marking first st of each row with st marker. (10)

Round 2: Ch-2, turn, 2Ldc in each st around. (20)

Round 3: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (30)

Round 4: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 2 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (40)

Round 5: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 3 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (50)

Round 6: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 4 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (60)

Round 7: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 5 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (70)

Round 8: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 6 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (80)

Round 9: Ch-2, turn, * Ldc in next 7 sts, 2Ldc in next * repeat between * * around. (90)

Rounds 10 – 26: Ldc in each st around. (90)

Round 27: * Ldc in next 7 sts, Ldc2tog * repeat between ** around. (80)

Round 28: Ldc in next 30 sts, Ch-20, sk-20 sts, dc in next st, Ldc in remaining 29 sts. (80)

Rounds 29 – 31: repeat round 10 (80)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for construction.

Neck Band:

Using the larger, 5.5mm hook…

Row 1: Ch-21, sl st in blo of 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. (20)

Rows 2 – 100: Ch-1, turn, sl st in blo of each sl st across. (20)

The band should be about 3.5″ (9cm) wide and about 15″ long. When stretched, the band should be about 23″ long and fit snugly around your head. Do not fasten off.

Construction:

Line up the first row to the last row and sl st together to form a tube. Line up the face of the beanie with the neck edges. I like to put both around a somewhat large book to stretch them to the same circumference as I sew. Using the long tail from the face, seam the top to the neck band.

Weave in all ends.

Enjoy! 😉
